CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION
Students may begin career development in high school through a variety of career and technical education programs. Courses are offered in agriculture, business and information technology, marketing, technology education, family and consumer sciences, career connections, trade and industrial fields, and health and medical sciences. Cooperative education and job shadowing opportunities enable students to gain valuable workplace experience.
The Pruden Center for Industry and Technology is a career and technical center shared by Suffolk students and Isle of Wight County students which offers morning and afternoon classes. High school students can prepare for careers in early childhood education, collision repair technology, automotive service technology, building trades, culinary arts, cosmetology, welding, certified Internet webmaster, Oracle, nurse aide, utility/heavy construction technology, CISCO computer networking, PC technology, emergency medical technician, and veterinary assistant.
